“ | Roman: You're not going anywhere Sidney. It's time you came to terms with me, and with mother. Maybe you never knew her at all Sidney, maybe you just can't get past the surface of things! Sidney: Who the hell are you? Roman: The other half of you. I searched for a mother too, an actress named Rina Reynolds, tried to find her my whole life! And four years ago, I actually tracked her down. Knocked at her door thinking she'd welcome me with open arms, but she had a new life and a new name! Maureen Prescott! You were the only child she claimed Sidney! She shut me out in the cold forever! Her own son... (unmasks himself) Roman Bridger, director. (uses voice changer) And brother. (turns voice changer off) She slammed the door in my face, Sid. She said that I was Rina’s child, and that Rina was dead. And then it struck me: "What a good idea." So I watched her. I made a little home movie, a little-- a little family film. It seems Maureen, mom, she really got around. I mean, Cotton was one thing. Everybody knew about that, but Billy’s father? That was the key. Your boyfriend didn’t like seeing his daddy in my film too much, he didn’t like it at all. Once I supplied the motivation, all the kid needed was a few pointers: have a partner to sell out in case you get caught, find someone to frame. It was like he was making a movie. Sidney: You... This is all because of you. Roman: I'm a director, Sid. I direct. |

~ Roman revealing himself as the one that caused the original Woodsboro killings. |
Roman Bridger, formerly known as Roman Roberts, is the main antagonist of the Scream franchise.
He is a renowned young music video and film director who would end up directing Stab 3, the fictional adaptation of the real-life (in-universe) Ghostface killing sprees targeting Sidney Prescott. While initially presented as an assuming director, in truth, Roman was the identity of the newest Ghostface responsible for murdering the Stab 3 cast and the architect behind the Ghostface killings that had plagued Woodsboro and Windsor College in the past after masterminding the murder of his mother, Maureen Prescott, at the hands of Billy Loomis and Stu Macher. He is one of Sidney's archenemies and her half-brother.
He was portrayed by Scott Foley. While disguising his voice, he was voiced by Roger L. Jackson. For his in-costume scenes as Ghostface, he was portrayed by Brian Avery.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He manipulated Billy Loomis into murdering his birth mother Maureen Prescott for refusing to accept him as her son when he tracked her down to her home, taking pride at doing so.
- He also gave Billy the orders to “find someone to frame” (who ended up being Cotton Weary), leading to the latter being put in death row for a year thanks to Sidney Prescott, and told Billy to find a accomplice to frame if things went wrong, which ended up being Stu Macher.
- He's indirectly responsible for the Woodsboro killing spree in the first film by manipulating Billy and Stu into killing Maureen, which inspired them to kill several of Woodsboro's citizens out of their passion for horror movies, with the former's death later inciting his mother Nancy to orchestrate another killing spree with Mickey Altieri to avenge him.
- He showed no remorse when Sidney points this out, simply smiling and saying "I'm a director, Sid, I direct", taking satisfaction at turning Billy and Stu into killers.
- He turned Cotton Weary's girlfriend against him by using his voice manipulator to make her think he was the one trying to kill her, before killing her and Cotton.
- He killed the entire Stab 3 crew, including his ex-lover Jennifer Jolie, just to frame his own half-sister Sidney Prescott for it, for the sole purpose of breaking her physically and psychologically.
- He beat Stone, a security guard, with a frying pan and then stabbed him, letting him live long enough so that the people who saw him could watch him die in front of them.
- He played cruel mind games with Sidney in a way no other killer has, mocking her with her mother’s voice and using the bedsheets on “Maureen’s” dead body to mock her with images of her dead mom, bringing her to the brink of insanity.
- He took Dewey Riley and Gale Weathers hostage to force Sidney to meet with him alone, threatening to kill them if she refused.
- He nearly killed Detective Mark Kincaid when the latter saved Sidney.
- He killed his birth father John Milton simply to frame Sidney for his killing spree.
- He tried to kill Sidney, Dewey, and Gale after he was stabbed and their backs were turned, when at first it looked like he was trying to connect with Sidney.
- While he does have a tragedy of wishing to know his mother, and Maureen cruelly rejecting him because he was the living proof of the rape John Milton subjected her to, her rejection isn’t what drives his actions anymore as he already got his revenge on Maureen by orchestrating her death, and Sidney points out he has no one else to blame for how he turned out and only kills because he chooses to out of petty envy against her.
- He easily sets the Heinous Standards for the series due to his nigh familicide, kickstarting the events of the series and having the single highest individual kill count of any Ghostface killer.
